Mary is a Licensed Professional Counselor (VA and NC) and a Certified Poetry Therapist, who has recently relocated to Chapel Hill, NC, after being active in the Northern Virginia mental health field for more than 20 years.
Mary works with adults and teens to help them deal more effectively and creatively with the challenges of everyday living as well as particular crisis situations. She provides the empathic support and guidance that can help people struggling with various personal and professional issues to gain self-awareness and perspective, to achieve their individual goals, and to grow in the direction of greater life satisfaction.
Mary is skilled in a range of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mind-body and creative- expressive counseling strategies. Because there’s no “one size fits all” in the fabric of human experience, she tailors her therapeutic approach to meet the needs of every individual client.
Mary’s academic background in psychology, cultural anthropology, comparative religion, and the creative arts has been enhanced by many years of living in various parts of Europe, South America, and the United States. Apart from professional life, her world revolves around a family of both 2 and 4-legged creatures, music, literature, walks in the woods, and lap swimming.
